Painting and friends

Thanks to Daniel, Sue and Fiona who came to help with various bits of painting during the week.
The shower is now grouted and ready for use

Monday-painting and tiling

The ensuite shower is now tiled - but not grouted and Daniel made a really good start on painting the walls in the bedroom. I'm quite proud of the tiling as it's the first tiling I've ever done. Chris did a fantastic job at cutting the holes in the tiles for the shower.

The en suite has been basically painted now.

Painting party no 1

For our first painting party in the loft we had a very special guest, Isaac came complete with Noise t shirt, ready to help. He also brought Mum and Dad with him and they helped out too! Many thanks as this means the loft has nearly all had its base coat now. Isaac did get a bit bored in the end and went off to watch the cricket.

week 18

This week the builders have finished the plastering in the loft room, I've started to prime the plaster surface and tonight (Friday) we will sleep there for the first time as we have my parents staying. The doors are on and I'm sure we will be cosy (if not very dark!)

The ceiling and most of the walls in the loft are now plastered.

Our bedroom now has walls all round it and they are all plasterboarded.

Wednesday week 17

The last of the dividing walls have gone up in the loft room and the last wall in the ensuite has been plastered now.

Sunset photo no 1

Obviously one of the main reasons for wanting to build a loft conversion was to get better photos of the stunning sunsets which we could see through the gaps in the houses behind us. Tonight gave me my first opportunity to take a photo from the loft room. Not the best sunset but it shows me the view!

Plastered- partly again

The ensuite bathroom in the loft has now been plastered with the exception of one wall, and the main loft room has the big wall plastered as well.

The loft room and its en suite is really starting to take shape. The walls of the ensuite are now up, Rebekah has had a go at "showering" and it is ready to start plastering hopefully tomorrow.

When the builders turned up this morning with LOADS of dust sheets I was rather concerned. I decided they were obviously going to knock holes in the ceiling. I was right!!!! They've also removed the cupboard at the top of the stairs (and put something there to stop the children falling down the stairs in the night!). Lots of noise and dust followed but the builders have done a great job of clearing up after themselves.
The roof has also had lots going on today. The tiles have nearly finished going onto the dormer and the ridge tiles are also almost complete.
The other thing they have done today is to start on the insulation in the loft room and the shape of the ceiling there. It's all starting to take shape.
